THE V16 PILLARS
One Step Above
One Step Above - One Step Higher
Pillar 14

What is One Step Above?
One Step Above is the quiet decision to stop settling for less than you are capable of becoming. It is not about proving you are better than someone else. It is about reminding yourself that you are capable of becoming better than you were yesterday.
Too often we compare ourselves to others in ways that discourage us. We see someone more successful, more talented, or further ahead and quietly conclude, "I could never do that." One Step Above invites us to ask a different question:
"Why not me?"
Why can't I become one step better? One step wiser? One step more disciplined? One step closer to the person I was created to become?
This is a private commitment. It is not arrogance, pride, or self-importance. It is simply refusing to underestimate your own potential.
Why It Matters
The standards we set for ourselves quietly shape the direction of our lives. If we continually lower our expectations, we gradually begin accepting less than we are capable of achieving. But when we expect just a little more of ourselves each day, small improvements begin to compound into extraordinary results.
One Step Above is not about winning comparisons. It is about raising your own standard. It reminds us that growth is not measured by where someone else stands today, but by whether we are continuing to become the person we are capable of becoming.
As Dale Carnegie wisely observed:
"Be better than other people if you can, but do not tell them so."
True confidence is quiet. It is demonstrated through consistent effort, humble improvement, and a life that speaks for itself.
Points To Consider
Where have I been underestimating what I am capable of becoming?
What is one area of my life where I can choose to become just one step better this week?
Am I measuring myself against other people, or against the person I know I can become?
